Author. He is recognized as a 19th century French author. With a bibliography of about fifty works, his main books were "Lives of the Desert Fathers : Their Spiritual Doctrine and Monastic Discipline," "The Count De Falloux and His Memoirs," "La Cochinchine Et Le Tonkin, The Country, The History and The Missions," and the biography of his well-known older brother Louis Veuillot . Born in poverty, his family relocated to Paris when he was a child. In 1840 his brother accepted a position at the newspaper, "Univers Religieux," and shortly he and his sons joined him. He married and the couple had five children with his two sons entering journalism. His younger sister Élise Veuillot was also a journalist. A daughter became a nun and a grandson became Cardinal Pierre Veuillot. He and his brother held stock in the General Union, which was a French Catholic bank created in Lyon in 1875 . The bank crashed in 1882, leading to the stock market failure. The brothers were also stockholders in a Catholic Belgium bank. At his death, his youngest became the editor of the newspaper.
